Life-Self Improvement Group:
Decades of research, including more than 50 clinical trials, have shown that group therapy is as effective as individual therapy for many conditions, including depression, obesity and anxiety. APHS offers a 50 week Life-Self Improvement group that is based off the work of GiANT Accelerate programing
(in conjunction with Rewired Dynamics https://www.rewireddynamics.com/).
This psycho-educational style group is a new pilot group offered by APHS. It has been well known that there are many ways to self recovery, healing, symptom reduction, remission, self improvement, happiness and overall life satisfaction, and keep up with new technology, APHS has decided to offer an online video treatment group specialized to meet the new growing need.
So many people say life coaching, going to motivational seminars, learning about psychology, and self study about one's self has been incredibly helpful. APHS has therefore integrated these concepts and treatment designs into a new group therapy program. Remember, group therapy is not always what you see on television. This group may seem a bit more like an interactional motivational seminar than what you see as group therapy on television. This group is taking approved and licensed programming material and presenting it along with our own expertise in mental health. The group is run by our APHS therapists, and Kim Galske and or Fritz Baertschy of Rewired Dynamics will be providing additional educational support.
Because we care about ensuring our treatment actually works, we ask participants to voluntarily take a pre, during, and post questionnaire about life satisfaction and or symptom improvement. We will compare this information to traditional one to one therapy clients entering into one to one therapy, and will be providing this confidential information (no personal information given) to a researcher for data analysis and publication.
We believe the group is effective, and there are no negative harmful effects from participation. You are able to stop attending the group anytime, and we can provide referrals to other treatment options or people anytime. We understand you may be wanting to attend the group due to discomfort currently in your life, and participation is just one of many options you have for treatment. We will be comparing our results to others who voluntarily enter into individual therapy, and there is no "assignment" to one or the other, but rather self govern optional placement.
All participants must adhere to a strict rule of Confidentiality, whereby, each member will not disclose any identifying information about other group members, and agrees to not publicly discuss things that happen and or are said in the group. Members are also welcome to not answer any questions asked, and are always treated with respect and dignity from all members of the group. Anyone violating such rules repeatedly would be asked to leave the group. Because the group builds upon its members own participation, we do ask that group members try to attend all groups. We also ask that group members ensure when they attend, they are located in a location that can ensure privacy (e.g. not in a cafe, at work where others can see or hear, and not at home where children may interfere with the group). Likewise, a good internet connection will be needed. If someone needs immediate help or assistance, a group member can contact APHS at anytime or seek help from other local emergency care providers.
As a participant you will discover how to:
* Communicate more effectively
* Recognize tendencies and their impact on behaviors and emotions
* Change your self reality, life narrative and improve self-preservation
* Specifically identify, prioritize, and better understand the dynamics of key relationships in our life
Deepen you knowledge of your own strengths and challenges, and learn what way may be best for you to empower yourself for experiences
* Build empathy by knowing what it’s like to be on the other side of your own actions, and how it creates a unique culture in your relationships
